Seating Chart for a 100-Guest Garden Wedding

100 guests in a garden: 14 round tables of 8 plus a sweetheart table, about 1,800 sq ft and a 18x18 dance floor. Three layouts, tips and a free chart.

For 100 guests at a garden wedding, plan 14 round tables of 8, with the two of you at a sweetheart table. On 60-inch rounds, 13 tables seat everyone (seven tables of 8 and six tables of 7), plus a spare, leaving six free seats across the room. Allow about 1,600 to 1,800 square feet with a 18x18-foot dance floor.

At a glance

  • 14 round tables of 8 (60-inch), spare included
  • 1,600–1,800 square feet in all
  • 18x18 foot dance floor
  • $49 Seating plan, one-time

Three ways to set the tables

  • Rounds of eight: 14 round tables of 8. Fits a tent’s poles and a lawn’s uneven edges most easily. On 60-inch rounds, 13 tables seat everyone (seven tables of 8 and six tables of 7), plus a spare, leaving six free seats across the room.
  • Long tables: four long rows of three eight-foot tables. A garden party look; needs a level lawn or a floor. Each row is 24 feet long and seats up to 26, split as two rows of 25 and two rows of 24: 12 eight-foot tables in all.
  • Rounds of ten: 11 round tables of 10. Fewer tables, a smaller tent. On 72-inch rounds, 10 tables seat everyone (eight tables of 10 and two tables of 9), plus a spare, leaving two free seats across the room.

Every table size for 100 guests: seating plan for 100 wedding guests.

What a garden changes

  • Book the tent and its floor together. Grass that is fine for a ceremony is hard on heels and chair legs at dinner, and a floor keeps the dance floor level.
  • Have a rain plan with the same table count. If the tent is the rain plan, size it for dinner, not for the ceremony.
  • Light the path to the tables and the restrooms; a garden that is lovely at 5 pm is dark by 9.
  • Leave the tent sides off where it is safe, so the tables nearest the edge look out over the garden.

100 guests is more than the free plan's 50 seats. The Seating plan seats up to 100, for a one-time $49. See 100 guests seated, no account needed. Compare plans.

Questions about seating 100 guests in a garden

How many tables do I need for 100 guests at a garden wedding?

14 round tables of 8, with the two of you at a sweetheart table. Long tables: four long rows of three eight-foot tables. That seats the other 98 guests comfortably, at about 24 inches of table edge each.

How much space do 100 wedding guests need in a garden?

About 1,600 to 1,800 square feet with a 18x18 dance floor, a DJ or band and one bar. Under a tent that is a 30x60 frame tent (1,800 square feet). The rental company will check it against the poles, the catering tent and the space for heaters or fans.

What size dance floor for 100 guests?

A 18x18-foot floor (324 square feet). That allows about 3 square feet a guest, since not everyone dances at once.

Round or long tables for a garden wedding?

Either. Rounds of eight (13 tables) are easiest under a tent, because they sit between the poles. Long tables (four rows of three eight-foot tables) suit an open garden party but need level ground or a floor. Ask the rental company which they can level on your lawn.
