• Confirm the venue's seated capacity with everything in the room. Many ballrooms quote a standing or theatre-style number; ask for the banquet figure with your dance floor, stage and buffet in place.
• Give guests their table before they reach the door. A single seating board creates a queue at this size. Put the chart online behind a QR code, or split it across several boards by surname.
• Seat by family branch and community, not by individual. Large weddings are usually several overlapping networks: each side's extended family, a church or community, colleagues. Give each a zone of the room, then fill tables within it.
• Plan how you'll greet everyone. Visiting every table can take the whole evening. A receiving line or visiting tables zone by zone keeps it to a set time. Nobody tells you this about a large wedding
• Stagger service with the caterer. Ask how many servers and buffet points they plan for your count, and which tables are served first, so the back of the room isn't still waiting when the speeches start.
