The best wedding seating chart app depends on what you need at the end. For a chart guests look up on their phones, choose Forever Farrah, SeatPlan.io or a QR seat finder. For a free chart in the planning suite you already use, choose Zola (iPhone only) or WeddingWire. For a to-scale layout your venue shares, choose Social Tables. For a beautiful printed sign, use Canva. The Knot has no digital seating chart yet.

We built Forever Farrah because our own seating chart turned into a full-time job. You draw the room with real table shapes and capacities, and auto-seat builds a first draft from your guest list for you to adjust. RSVPs, meal choices and plus-ones are built in. On the day, guests scan one QR code, search their name and see their table lit up on the floor plan. The same code carries photo sharing, song requests and trivia.
Zola's seating chart is a real floor plan. You drag round or rectangular tables into place, set the seats, and add a dance floor, bar and head table. Your confirmed guests come in from the Zola guest list, and you can export to PDF or Excel. The catch: Zola's help center says the seating chart is only in the Zola iOS app. Zola is free and earns from its registry.
WeddingWire's free seating chart lets you drag circular or square tables into a layout, add areas for the bar and dance floor, and drag guests in from its guest list. You can print, email or export it as a visual or list. It covers every event of the wedding weekend, not just the reception.
SeatPlan.io is a seating chart maker for any event. It offers drag-and-drop tables, spreadsheet import, a floor plan imported from a photo or PDF, and exports to PDF, Excel and place cards. It also has a guest QR seat finder. You can design without signing up, but saving, exporting and the QR finder are paid.
Social Tables, now part of Cvent, is professional event diagramming. It has table shapes and dimensions, one-click auto-seating, and live collaboration with clients and vendors. It has a free tier, but it's built for planners, caterers and venues, with no wedding website or RSVPs.
Table Tailor is a seating planner app for iPhone and Android. Its standout feature is rules: mark who must sit together and who must be kept apart, and it flags any table that breaks one. It suggests seats automatically. The free tier has a guest cap, and export is part of the one-time Pro upgrade.
Top Table Planner is browser-based seating software with drag-and-drop tables, Word and Excel import, and RSVP and meal tracking. It prints the seating chart, place cards and escort cards straight from the plan. It is a one-time licence with a free trial.
These three replace the printed seating board with a QR code guests scan to find their table. Please Find Your Seat and DigiSeats focus on the finder itself. Canva's wedding seating chart templates are free to edit, and Canva will print and deliver the result. It's a design tool, not a planner: you type every name in, and each change means editing the design again. Many couples plan in a seating app and design the sign in Canva.
