How many tables 125 wedding guests need at every standard table size, how to split guests evenly, the floor space it takes, and what matters at this size.
For 125 guests on 60-inch round tables seating eight, plan 17 tables: 16 to seat 123 guests plus one spare, with the two of you at a sweetheart table. On 72-inch rounds seating ten it's 14 tables, and on 8-foot rectangles seating eight it's 17. Allow roughly 1,250 to 1,500 square feet for the seating alone, before the dance floor and bar.
These numbers take the two of you out for a sweetheart table and seat the remaining 123 guests. "With a spare" adds one empty table for late changes.
On 60-inch rounds, spread guests as 11 tables of 8 and 5 tables of 7, leaving 5 empty seats across the room rather than one half-empty table. Even tables look fuller and give you room to move a guest at the last minute.
Allow about 10 to 12 square feet per seated guest once the gaps between tables are included, so 1,250 to 1,500 square feet (116 to 139 m²) for 125 guests. The dance floor, the DJ or band, the bar, the cake table and any buffet all come out of the same room, so ask your venue for its seated capacity with those in place, not its standing capacity.
